Hello my name is Gus. I was recently was dropped off at the overnight box at the local shelter by my previous owner.  They left me there and didn't give the shelter any information on me. I was very scared when I waited in the box overnight and was so relieved when someone let me out the next morning. I was shaking and hungry and cold from being scared all night. The nice people at the shelter put me in a warmer place with  food , a blanket and water.  I was very depressed as the days passed and all these strangers would stop to look at me and would just keep walking by.

I heard a rumor that big brown dogs didn't have very good luck in the shelter and I was beginnning to think it was true. Then one day a plea for help was sent to the rescue groups in the area asking if anyone had any room for me in their home. I was getting more depressed and sad in my kennel and the lady who worked there was getting worried about me.  Safe Haven stopped by to check me out. Boy did I try really hard to impress her when she walked into my kennel with me. I wagged my tail and tried to show good manners. It worked and was released from the shelter and I am curently in my foster home.

My foster mom was very impressed how I jumped right into the car and sat in the backseat very nicely for the ride home. I kept laying my head on her shoulder to show her how thankful I was for the ride back to freedom.  I am settling into my new place. I know how to sit and seem to be a well mannered indoor dog.  I am going to be catching up on some much needed sleep and trying to put on a few pounds before I get adopted. If you want to hear more about me and my progress, just email my foster mom.
